Material Properties in Cake Filtration – Discrete Element Simulation of Compression‐Permeability Cells

Abstract This simulation study investigates the impact of material properties on behavior compressible filter cakes. A compression‐permeability (CP) cell is used as a standard experimental technique for characterizing It contains bidisperse particle packing simulated by discrete element method. Using this setup, set crucial varied and their influence macroscopic compression described established fitting equations studied. Sobol's sensitivity analysis performed, results indicate that Young's modulus, coefficient sliding friction, surface energy density have strongest cake solidity compressibility.
